Rains abate, city back to 'normal'

With rains courtesy of the Southwest moonsoon gone for the moment and floodwaters down the drain, life in the city and province of Iloilo is seemingly back to normal.

Iloilo City has been declared under state of calamity following the flashflood caused by heavy rains last Tuesday night.

People gather around tombs which collapsed inside the Tanza public cemetery due to heavy downpour that put many parts of the city under water for several hours Wednesday. Cemetery officials are still confused on what to do with the destroyed coffins as well as the skeletons that became part of the rubble.

CEO given 5 days to come up drainage system status report

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas gave the City Engineer's Office (CEO) five days to come up with an assessment report and status of all the drainage system in the city.
