A woman who wanted to become president

I stand firm on my own personal conviction, that GMA, amid the political turmoil besetting her administration, should never abandon her position being the duly elected President of this Republic.

I don't care what other people may think or say about my piece; may he may be a friend or an enemy, I just want the world to know that my moral support to Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has never waned even an ounce.

I could not imagine, not even in my nightmares, the likes of Susan Roces, Senators Ping Lacson, Nene Pimentel or Vice President Noli De Castro to run this country, would the bunch of power-hungry opportunists succeed to remove Arroyo by force.

No, I'm not singing hosannas to GMA at this juncture. Her honest admission of “lapse in judgment” may eventually convict her after the impeachment proceedings, but at least she should be given her day in court, not through the mob rule.  Who isn't a sinner anyway, if I may ask? Those with clean hands, I dare to cast the first stone.

I could see, only people with personal vested interests are the ones obsessed to destroy the president by hook or by crook. Smells rot!

I consider Ms. Roces first on the line. Shebelieves deep, deep in her heart it was her beloved Romeo who was the winner at the recent national elections. Oh, yeah? Believe me dear, your “king” was totally annihilated particularly in Oton, my adopted town where I cast my vote. Suffice to say he was disastrously treated the same in the whole of Region VI.

If Ms. Roces could only keep her bloody mouth shut for a second, engage herself in meditation, perhaps, this could even pave her the way to revelation. And the revelation is her “king” is forever a goner, a GONER!

Extremely painful as it appears, but this is reality. She should have learned to accept it with complete surrender. Let her husband rest in peace. There is no amount of scandalous theatrical acting could ever change her Wheels of Fate. She should have abandoned her “cause” at once. Unknown to her, she is being blindly deceived by people surrounding her that the presidency is just a breath away from her. That soon in a blink of an eye it will be served to her in a silver-platter, without sweat.

Haven't you noticed madam, they are all salivating? Where is your sense of sensitivity? Why the hell you allow yourself to blinded by your unreasonable craving to grab the rug from GMA's feet?

The truth of the matter is, Ms. Roces is still intensely suffering from trauma caused by the political defeat, and worst the untimely death of her husband. Her erratic behavior since then is something we ordinary mortals must consider. She must strongly resist the temptation from the whispering vipers mostly composed of vultures, leeches, crocs, name-it and you-have-it from the world of celluloid.

You publicly confessed you got your strength from your dead husband. Hence, you are tirelessly hoping from one island to another, visiting the countryside, encouraging your hosts to force GMA to resign. Unknowingly or deliberately, you are instigating these people for upheaval against this government.

On the side you keep on narrating how FPJ, when he was still alive and kicking, used to entertain and inspire the poor illiterate Muslim brothers of ours. Through his films the actor depicts his self as protector of the oppressed people in Mindanao and other parts of the country. After a series of bloody punches he encounters with the villains, FPJ, unscathed with no signs of fatigue, as always, came out victorious. To them he is an immortal hero. Never, never must he die on screen or else they might force to put the whole theater building  lit in flame. That's how far fanaticism goes as far as idolizing with their "king" is concerned.

Adding insult to injury, Ms. Roces mistakenly took this as a form of public service. Let's get this straight. Acting is far different from governance. They are both entirely a different specie, Ms. Booba!

God, what happened to your  brain? Entertainment is not a form of public service. As actors they are obliged to entertain people because they are being paid for it. It is a profession any Dick and Harry can apply for as long as they have the talents. To some, as long as they have the guts to unzip their fly or eagle-spread their legs for "art's sake", then they are in, pronto!

Does this serve the viewing public in terms of their basic needs? No, on the contrary you encourage every-man-on the-street to spend their last centavo from their pockets to watch your husband's films. What benefits do they get out of this? Nothing, except to satisfy their empty stomachs as they indulged themselves in make-believe and temporarily forget their domestic problems back at home.

So, please stop spreading the “king” has served the public in general. But to be fair it has been a public knowledge that he had helped a lot of his constituents shouldered their hospital bills and others. He did it in his own private capacity and not as a public official. Of course there is nothing wrong with this, but we are just putting things in their proper perspective so the public may know.

Yet Inday, you wanted to become president?

Will somebody hand in me a hammer, please? I feel like poking somebody's head!  (email: roblesnelson@yahoo.com)
