NSO verifies 2010 census count
ROXAS CITY – A saturation activity is being conducted by the National Statistics Office (NSO) in Capiz since November 3 to verify the 2010 Census of Population and Housing (CPH) result in the province.
“Households that were missed during the enumeration period will be counted and added to the result during the saturation drive,” said NSO Capiz Provincial Statistician Frankie Dordas.
The activity will be held until November 13.
The machine processing of forms is ongoing at the NSO 6 Regional Office to generate a data file that will be forwarded to the NSO central office for tabulation and eventual release of preliminary count of the country’s total population.
A primer on the 2010 CPH said the population count by province, city, municipality, and barangay is targeted to be released before the end of the census year, which is Dec. 31, 2010.
Upon proclamation by President Benigno Simeon Aquino III, the final count shall be considered official for all purposes and the census data will be made available in print and electronic copies.
The census, which has set May 1, 2010 as reference date, includes the entire process of collecting, compiling, evaluating, analyzing, publishing, and disseminating data about the population and the living quarters in a country.
It is the 13th census of population and the 6th census of housing that has been conducted in the country since the first census was undertaken in 1903.*PIA
