ECC to orient HR managers on Employees Compensation programs
The Employees Compensation Commission (ECC), an attached agency of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), will conduct a one-day seminar on employees’ compensation program on Friday, November 13, at Sarabia Manor Hotel, Iloilo City.
The employees’ compensation program is a government program designed to provide a compensation package to public and private employees or their dependents in the event of work-related sickness, injury or death.
Some 100 human resource managers from various establishments in Iloilo City are expected to attend this seminar aimed at increasing the workers and management awareness on EC program and benefits provided for work contingencies like illness, injury or death.
The seminar will also cover topics on Work Contingency Prevention and Occupational Safety and Health Principles, Quick Response Project, which aims to mitigate the effects of work-related contingencies among workers, and the KAGABAY, which aims to rehabilitate Occupationally Disabled Workers (ODWs) through physical restoration, vocational entrepreneurial skills and re-employment.
DOLE 6 Director Aida M. Estabillo said this activity is part of the DOLE’s information campaign on the programs and services offered by its family of agencies, particularly the Employees Compensation Commission.
Many workers and employers are not aware of the employees’ compensation programs, thus, majority of workers after acquiring work-related illnesses or in the event of work-related injury or death failed to avail of these benefits.
All workers in the formal sector enjoying employer-employee relationship and registered members of Social Security System (SSS) are covered by the EC program.
