Areas in Guimaras province affected by the oil spill need to be cleaned all over again, the government said.

The .45 caliber pistol recovered from the possession of the policeman bodyguard of Tapaz Mayor Romualdo Exmundo was not the one used to shoot dead Vice Mayor Victor Gardose and two others last week. At the same time, police investigators ruled out the possible involvement of the New People's Army (NPA) and other armed groups in the killing, which is now strongly believed to be politically-motivated.

Abandoned city hall site now a squatters haven

Now that it is already definite that the new Iloilo City Hall will be built in its present site across Plaza Libertad it is then certain that the millions worth of concrete piles driven at the first proposed city hall site in Brgy. San Pedro, Molo in 2001 will be put into oblivion.

Worse, the abandoned site is now occupied by hundreds of squatters allegedly sanctioned by former congressman, now Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez, Sr.
