Province's 12T volunteers to get cash gifts
Starting next week the province's 12,000 volunteers will already receive their cash gifts from the provincial government.
Governor Niel Tupas, Sr. said the volunteers which include barangay health workers (BHWs), day care workers (DCWs) and barangay service point officers (BSPOs) will receive P1,800 each.
Tupas said the cash gift is the provincial government's way of recognizing the efforts of the volunteers in doing their respective tasks for the benefit of the people.
The governor said the volunteers are the ones who are directly in touch with the community even in the far flung areas.
He said they do not receive any single centavo yet they are very dedicated in their jobs.
Tupas said this is the only time that they are being given cash gifts to let them feel that they are also remembered.
"The amount may be small but for them it is already very big as it could make their Christmas happy," said Tupas.
The distribution of cash gifts would be made on December 19, 20, and 22 at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol.
Tupas took note that he has been giving cash gifts to provincial volunteers since he assumed as governor of the province.
Last year the volunteers were given P1,400 each.
Meanwhile, the P10,000 additional bonus for provincial government employees would also be released starting next week.
