Solar I captain not trained for tanker operations--Marina

The Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) has uncovered violations of maritime regulations in its preliminary investigation into the sinking of M/T Solar I, which caused the massive oil spill now threatening the island province of Guimaras.

Hundreds of oil spill victims unknown, unregistered

Thousands of oil spill victims in the Province of Guimaras have thus far received the first round of assistance, both from the government and oil company Petron. Yet in the last two days of validation and site visits, discovery was made that thousands more are left "unknown" thus spared from the relief intended to all victims.

PECO wants to amend power supply agreement with NPC

Panay Electric Company Inc. (Peco) had requested the National Power Corporation (NPC) to amend their existing Non-Firm Power Supply Agreement after the latter only provides power to the lone power distributor in the city during off-peak hours.

Peco Senior Vice President for Operations Edmund O. Afzelius requested Atty. Cyril C. Del Callar, NPC's president, for the company's desire to amend the agreement since the available capacity for sale to them was limited to off-peak hours.
