Vincent Paul Gubrian Juatas aka dj Cowboy is another Ilonggo who proves that we are a nation of excellent musicians. Dj Cowboy is making waves as a spin doctor in Changchun City, China. Not only that, he has mixed in other countries, too.
He is a talent of Asian Static Vibe Mix Production and also goes with the name Floorfilla. He is the first Philippine dj and remixer who was featured on the front page of URGDJS (www.urgdjs.com).

URGI: So Cowboy, everyone has that first time. When was yours? When did you first start mixing and remixing?
Cowboy: I guess I was always mixing! I was always mentally remixing tunes I heard against other sounds around and I just loved music so much: I decided to have my way with music I heard on the radio and in clubs as well!

Professionally though, I started remixing 1997, remixing tracks for dance contests and cheerdances .
URGI: What kind of music do you like to mix?
Cowboy: To mix? Well, live. I'm totally dependent on my crowd. I feed off their energy and their body language! It is great to have the crowd under your control as you feed them one hot track after another!
Of course, you have to let them catch their breath at times too (so they can go buy something to drink at the bar).
URGI: Do you do a lot of collaboration work?
Cowboy: Yes, I love collaborations as long as I have a free time to do it. Currently though, I'm working within a more structured business collaboration with my partner Jem. You know him as Dj Nuold - together we run Asian Static Vibe Mix Productions and it's doing really well. Collaboration is always fun when it's successful.
URGI: What do you like the most of about DJing the club scene?
Cowboy: The crowd. I love watching the crowd on how they dance and react to the music I play.
URGI: What do you hate the most??
Cowboy:I hate those people who kept on requesting tracks that I already played and they just never stop till I play it again. Crazy!
URGI: Whats the funniest thing that ever happened at a club?
Cowboy: LOL... the funniest? That would be the time that one Chinese dude was so drunk that he thought the dance floor was the comfort room. He started spraying his urine to the crowd! I was safe up in my booth so, maybe it was funnier to me than the guys on the dance floor.
URGI: What mixes are you working on now?
Cowboy: Actually, I have a couple in the works but club dates take a little priority right now, plus, I don't want to mix something at half quality.
URGI: How about software? What do you use for you mixing?
Cowboy: The softwares I use for remixing are FL5, Cool Edit 2.0 and DSSDJ 5. There are better softwares out there, but once you can do the basics, the rest of the mix is in your head and creativity.
