Army steps up polls security in 10 Panay villages

The Philippine Army is stepping up its security monitoring operations in at least 10 rebel-infested villages in Panay as the election period for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on October 25 starts tomorrow.

Defensor opposes ‘jueteng’ legalization

Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. said he is opposing the proposal to legalize the controversial numbers game “jueteng.”

Defensor said “jueteng” is just like the Small Town Lottery (STL) so there is no need to make it legal.

PLO asks Ombud to fasttrack resolution of P1.3-M autoclave case

The Provincial Legal Office of Iloilo has called on the Ombudsman Regional Office (Visayas) to resolve “at the soonest possible time” the case pertaining to the alleged irregularities in the procurement of an autoclave sterilizer machine costing P1.348 million by the administration of former Gov. Niel Tupas Sr. in 2008.
