WV more peaceful compared to other regions: Pagdilao
Western Visayas is more peaceful than any other region in the country, Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao, police regional director, said.
Pagdilao, guest speaker during the culmination activity of the National Crime Prevention Week yesterday, though acknowledged some major crime incidents in the region but he noted that the community’s unity with the police has led to the neutralization of two criminal gangs involved in robbery hold-up and other crimes in Western Visayas.
Pagdilao, whose message was read by Supt. Melchor Fajardo, deputy regional director for administration, also cited a murder case in Kalibo, Aklan where with the community’s cooperation with the police helped in the filing of a murder case against the suspect and several other persons.
“Policing is everybody’s concern,” he said, adding that “the cooperation of the community to attain a desirable level of peace and order in their respective community is paramount in bringing in development”.
The occasion’s theme is ““Komunidad at Pulisya, Magkasama Tungo sa Pag-unlad ng Bayan,” with the slogan “Ako, Ikaw, Tayong Lahat Laban sa Krimen.”
Pagdilao also thanked the Regional Management Coordinating Committee and the National Crime Prevention Week 2010 Interagency Technical Working Group for recognizing “our most citizen friendly police station”.
The winners for the Most Citizen Friendly Police Stations in Western Visayas are: For City Category, the first place went to San Carlos Police Station; Iloilo City Police Station 2, La Paz- second place; and third place- Bacolod City Police Station 3.
For Municipal Category: first place- Ivisan Police Station, Capiz; Tobias Fornier Police Station, Antique- second; and third place went to Boracay Special Tourist Police Office, Aklan.
