Capiz records 431,368 registered voters
ROXAS CITY – The province of Capiz has a total of 431,368 registered voters based on the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) provincial office statistical data released last February 9 in view of the national and local elections in May 10, 2010.
The data showed an increase of about 47,249 registered voters compared to only 384,119 figure during the May 2007 elections.
The recent data also showed that the province’s 473 barangays have 2,593 and 674 established and clustered precincts, respectively.
Capiz province has two congressional districts, 16 towns and a component city.
The first congressional district composed of six towns and a component city registers 227,050 registered voters while the remaining 10 towns of the province’s second congressional district records 204,318 registered voters.
Meanwhile, a total of 186 elective positions are at stake in the province apart from the candidates for national positions in the forthcoming elections.
The candidates for these positions include congressmen for the province’s two congressional districts, governor, vice-governor and ten provincial board members.
At the city/municipal level, there are 17 mayors as well as vice-mayors and 138 councilors posts available for election. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
