Man stabbed dead while on drinking binge
A deep-seated grudge was seen as the motive behind the killing of a 31-year old man inside the Jaro public plaza early morning of yesterday.
Lino Diaz, a resident of Sitio Ilaya, Brgy. Tabuc Suba, Jaro, Iloilo City, was allegedly on a drinking spree with some friends when the incident happened.
Police accounts claimed that while Diaz was sitting and drinking at one of the kiosks inside the plaza, the lone suspect swiftly passed by and haphazardly stabbed him.
Witnesses claimed that despite the fact that the suspect was already slumped on the pavement and bathing on his pool of blood, the suspect continued attacking him.
Initial reports claimed that Diaz suffered multiple stab wounds on the different parts of his body: 5 on the chest, 3 back on the back portion of his body, 1 on the left side of his body, and two stab injuries on the left leg.
The suspect allegedly used an 18-inch knife.
Diaz was still brought to West Visayas State University Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival.
