BCC now 12 years old
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio “Bing” Leonardia declared yesterday, September 8, the 12th Foundation Week Celebration of the Bacolod City College open at the Bays Center, Bacolod City. The celebration carries the theme: “We are taking off: Soar High with BCC!”
Mayor Bing, the founder of this institution said, he is proud and happy that BCC is now celebrating its 12th anniversary. It was created way back April 16, 1997 by the virtue of City Ordinance No. 175, s. 1997, he said.
Mayor Bing said, other colleges and universities here in the city have increased their tuition fees ranging from Php. 500 to Php. 600, but BCC tuition remains Php. 30. “It is not the price, but the quality education, the quality teachers”, he emphasized.
“Let us cooperate with the administration and be one of the best in Bacolod City”, Bacolod City Vice Mayor, Jude Thaddeus Sayson stressed.
On the other hand, Bacolod City Administrator, Dr. Rogelio B. Balo said the city will support the continuous growth and development of BCC.
This celebration is for the success of BCC throughout the 12 years of educating the Bacolodnon particularly the less privileged in the community. In these fruitful years BCC has produced and will continue to produce professionals. “We are one of the trusted institutions in the province of Negros Occidental”, BCC-OIC, Dr. Johanna Ann R. Bayoneta said.
Present during the program were: Councilors Jun Gamboa and Homer Bais, BCC Board of Trustees Atty. Juanito S. Amihan, Jr, Veteran Journalist Primo Esleyer, Dr. Reynaldo P. Pareñas and Rev. Fr. Tomas E. Rito; School Officials, Faculty, Staff and students were actively participating during the opening.
This five-day celebration starts Sept. 8 until Sept. 12.
Activities in line with this celebration there will be a Dance Showdown Competition, Math Quiz, Literary- Musical Contest, Sports Activities, Tree planting, Search for Mr. and Ms. BCC 2009 and a lot more.
