Newly deployed army battalion engages NPA in Igbaras

Less than three weeks after they were deployed, the 82nd Infantry (Bantay-Laya) Battalion had their baptism of fire yesterday after a platoon of the Charlie Company encountered around 20 New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Brgy. Tigbanaba, Igbaras, Iloilo.

Iloilo City gov’t pledges P2M counterpart for ICCSF

The city government pledged P2 million as its counterpart to the Iloilo City Coopreneurs Surety Fund (ICCSF) to help the operation of the Micro, Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (MSMEs) here.

There’s no dengue outbreak in city: Treñas

The problem on dengue hemorrhagic fever in Iloilo City has not yet reached a level that it could be considered an outbreak.

City Mayor Jerry Treñas made this statement yesterday amid reports that the number of dengue cases in the city continue to increase.

Treñas said there are dengue cases in the city but it is not sufficient to consider a dengue outbreak.

There are some 20 recorded dengue deaths here. The number of dengue deaths and cases in the city is much higher compared to previous year’s.
