Media forum on legal consequences of environmental degradation
The Regional Ecology Center 6 will again hold another Media Information Day to discuss the legal consequences of continued wanton disregard of environment laws, especially the Philippine Ecological solid Waste Management Act of 2000 (RA 9003), today May 5, at the Hotel del Rio.
Johannes Paul, GTZ-AHT Team Leader said internationally- known environmental lawyer, Atty. Antonio Oposa, Jr. will lead the discussion, who will also share his distinguished contributions to the development and implementation of international environmental law here and abroad, which have earned him distinctions.
Paul said the event is a sequel to the first Media Day where media practitioners brainstormed on environmental concerns and shared issues on how media can help in environmental awareness campaign, as well as inspire all stakeholders to take action to protect the environment.
He also said that the media are expected to join hands now and join “a media event to start a legal revolution,” as Atty. Oposa puts it. (PIA6/ESS)
