MV Doulos returns to Bacolod on Feb. 13
BACOLOD CITY -- MV Doulos will return to Bacolod City on February 13 to March 2, 2009 to host the world's largest floating Book Fair.
Jiamin Choo of Singapore who is a project manager, Kaylee Dadisman of U.S.A. and Maricel Rosario of the Philippines came as advance crew for the forthcoming Book Fair.
This is the second time that MV Doulos will be here in the city, manned by 330 crew of different nationalities.
MV Doulos is the world's oldest ocean-going passenger ship that is still sailing. She was built in 1914, only 2 years after Titanic. Staffed by a crew of 330 volunteers from 50 different countries, Doulos seeks to bring knowledge, help and hope to the nations. In the past 30 years Doulos sailed to over 100 countries, welcoming 20 million visitors on board.
Doulos carries a stock of over half a million books for sale at affordable prices. On display are 6,000 titles of quality literature from USA and UK, covering subjects such as education, business, cookery, sports, Christian literature, and a great selection of children's books.
One can enjoy an afternoon on board with your family. Walk through the cultural displays inside the ship and meet the international crew. Discover the life on board this floating United Nations.
One can also enjoy a relaxed evening of music and dances from around the world as you get to know the international crew in a café' setting.
The Book Fair Opening Hours: Feb. 13, Friday: 2pm – 9 pm; Sun-Mon: 2 pm - 9pm; Tue-Sat: 10 am – 9 pm; Sun-Mon: 2pm – 9 pm.
The entrance fee is P10 and free entry for children under 16. Children must be accompanied by adult.
The advance crew said they work for MV Doulos as volunteers. They sail for as long as nine days to reach their destination. They travel in a lot of places around the world.
