PNP personnel encouraged to undergo mandatory training
San Jose, Antique – PNP Director Ren T. Darroca encouraged his men to undergo mandatory trainings as requirement for promotion to the next higher rank at the same time equip them with knowledge and skills vital to efficient performance of duties and responsibilities.
Darroca said that the mandatory trainings for the Philippine National Police (PNP) include; Officers Basic Recruitment Course, a requirement for PO1 which deals on general police basic knowledge on police matters that include police investigation, police interventions, police tactics and related matters.
Another is the Junior Leadership Course (JLC) for PO1, 2 and 3 which is a review of basic operation to lead several units and managerial trainings. And also the Senior Leadership Course for SPOI to SPO4.
There are also training for the non-commissioned officers for becoming commissioned officers to prepare them on how to become an officer staff at the provincial level or field commanders in police stations or mobile groups.
And last Darroca pointed out that they have the Public Safety Officer Sr. Executive Course or the Directorial Staff Course which is a requirement to qualify for Sr. Superintendent and can assume the position of regional office staff or provincial and city director of highly urbanized cities.
The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) is asking Congress for an additional P24 million on top of its proposed P61.66 billion budget for 2009 to avoid the disruption of the mandatory trainings and career advancement of police officers up for promotions next year.
The Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) an attached agency of the DILG provides for the training, human resource development and continuing education of personnel at the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and Bureau of Fire Protection. (EA Abasquez/PIA)
