CSC-Capiz reminds on office dress code compliance
ROXAS CITY -- The Civil Service Commission (CSC) – Capiz Provincial Office is reminding all government officials and employees to comply with the prescribed workplace dress code.
This was conveyed by CSC – Capiz Provincial Director Ma. Cynthia P. A. Gelegani in view her observation that "some government employees have forgotten, hence, are violating the revised dress code."
The dress code is prescribed in a CSC Resolution No. 002515 that covers all officials and employees of the government except for those regularly performing their duties and functions in the field or those temporarily assigned in actual field operations.
The code also specifies "Filipiniana" attire during Mondays and the respective office uniforms prescribed by the government agencies/offices from Tuesday to Friday.
However, "on those days when there is no prescribed office uniform, employees shall be dressed in appropriate business attire."
"The wearing of maong pants, although generally prohibited, maybe considered as appropriate attire when paired with a collared polo shirt for male employees or any appropriate blouse or shirt for female employees," the code noted.
The code has also enumerated prohibited attires in the workplace like transparent, strapless or spaghetti-strap blouses unless worn as undershirt, blouse with over-plunging necklines, micro-mini skirt, walking or cycling shorts, leggings, tights, jogging pants, sando, rubber sandals, rubber slippers and "bakya."
Other prohibitions during office hours within office premises include wearing of heavy or theatrical make-up and grandiose display of jewelry, except for special occasions and during official celebrations.
The dress code is in accordance with Republic Act 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees which mandates that public officials and employees shall perform and discharge their duties with professionalism and shall lead modest lives appropriate to their positions and income.
