RPOC to push for Cuevas' '2nd star'

The Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) for Western Visayas is out to lobby for yet another 'star' for the region's top cop.
The move, once approved, will spell a promotion for the beneficiary-top cop, Chief Superintendent Isagani Cuevas, Police Regional Office 6 (PRO 6) Director.
The RPOC-backing was announced by Governor Niel Tupas Sr. during Tuesday's speech in Estancia, Iloilo. Such, as Tupas highlighted improved peace and order situation throughout the region under the leadership of Chief Superintendent Cuevas. The governor is RPOC chairman for Region 6.
And this, the governor added, has greatly helped in stabilizing economic and tourism efforts of Western Visayas provinces. Iloilo for its part, Tupas pointed out, is reaping the rewards of Cuevas' administration which he said has thus far resulted to major arrests of criminals here.
"With my appointment from President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as chairman of the Regional Peace and Order Council, I am announcing our move for Chief Superintendent Cuevas to become a two-star General," the governor in a surprise announcement said. Chief Superintendent Cuevas was immediately swamped by congratulatory handshakes from Iloilo mayors present.
Cuevas for his part returned the kind words of the governor as he vowed to work harder in ensuring the stability of peace and order in Western Visayas.
The PRO 6 director likewise stressed the need for continued support of local government officials if only to win the war against criminalities.
