PCL National Executive Convention starts today
BACOLOD CITY – Former Ilocos Governor now Deputy Security Adviser Luis "Chavit" Singson and Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla will be the keynote speakers of three-day 2nd Philippine Councilors League National Executive Officers and National Board Meeting and the 2008 series of Continuing Local Legislative Education Program in Negros Occidental.
The Philippine Councilors League-Negros Occidental Chapter and the PCL-Bacolod City Chapter will be the host of the convention starting today October 10 until October 12, at the L' Fisher Hotel and Bacolod Pavillion.
Singson will be the speaker during the opening ceremony in Garden Royalle while Revilla on the closing ceremony. Guests of honor for the three-day conference are Negros Occidental Governor Isidro Zayco and Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia welcomes the officials with pride as Bacolod celebrates its 29th Masskara Festival.
About 700 to 1,000 PCL executive officers will come to Bacolod for the activitiy.
PCL-Negros president and Provincial Board Member Raul Rivera said everything is ready and he expects that his fellow councilors will enjoy their stay in the province.
The councilor delegates aside from their scheduled meetings would include tours of different tourism destinations in the province. They will be toured within Bacolod City, visiting the Negros Museum, the wildlife Breeding Center, the century-old San Sebastian Cathedral, Negros product centers, the Panaad Park and Sports Complex – the largest in Visayas.
The tour also covers the historical and cultural heritage of Northern Negros particularly those in the cities of Silay and Talisay, culminating at Victorias Milling Company – the largest integrated mill and refinery in the world.
Dinner on Day 2 will be held at the Mambukal Resort in the town of Murcia to be hosted by the Provincial Government headed by Governor Isidro Zayco.
