'Lastimoso Advocacy' to reach wider audience
ROXAS CITY -- Capiz Board Member Rommel Lastimoso, chair of Committee on Environment and Natural Resources and the Committee on Peace and Order and Police Matter in the provincial board, will promote his advocacy on environment and peace and order on radio through the new program "Lastimoso Advocacy". The said program is co-hosted by broadcaster Isagani Ballera to be aired weekly every Sunday 11-12 a.m. over DYVR Radyo Agong. The purpose of the Capiz solon for the radio program is to reach wider audience so that they will be better informed on the critical issues concerning the environment, peace and order, and police matters.
Presently, the province of Capiz is facing environmental concerns such as illegal mining, denuding of mangroves, illegal fishing and rampant quarry of hills and mountains. Such activities denude our natural resources and cause natural calamities such as floods which is a perennial problem in several towns in Capiz. Also, it affects the marine life of our rivers and seas of which our province is known to be bountiful of.
Lately, Lastimoso spearheaded a tree planting activity in coordination with the local officials of Panitan and several government agencies in the barangays of the said town where the water treatment plant of Metro Roxas Water District (MRWD) is located. The activity is just one of several environmental endeavors of Lastimoso to address the protection of the environment and conservation of natural resources.
Through the new radio program, the listeners will be informed on how they could contribute to the environmental and peace and order advocacy even within the premises of their own homes. They will be educated on basic and proper garbage disposal and segregation, plant trees and vegetables, and clean their surroundings. Also, other line agencies and organizations with related concerns may disseminate their program of activities and other information through the radio program. The advocacy will not burgeon without the participation of the people, and the radio is one effective medium to reach them. Police matters and peace and order concerns will also be tackled in the radio program.
