SP holds first session, Mayor delivers fist SOCA at NGC
BACOLOD CITY – The Sangguniang Panglungsod held its first ever session at the New Government Center (NGC) yesterday despite the fact that the new edifice has no furnitures and fixtures yet.
The city government borrowed furnitures from the provincial government for its temporary use.
During the session Mayor Evelio Leonardia also delivered his historic State of the City Address (Soca) at the NGC.
In his Soca, Leonardia thanked all those who helped in the realization of the NGC.
The NGC will house all the city offices soon after it will be furnished with furnitures and fixtures.
Aside from the NGC, the City Mayor likewise was appreciative of the completion of the new slaughterhouse.
The SP regular session presided by Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson was also attended by Negros Occidental Governor Isidro Zayco and Vice Governor Dino Yulo and other members of the Provincial Board.
Meanwhile, during the session, City Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr., chairman of the Committee on Transportation, discussed his proposed Ordinance Amending Section 3 of City Ordinance 465, dated June 30, 2008, "An Ordinance prohibiting motorcycle riders from allowing a child below seven years old to ride the motorcycle.
Gamboa said aside from this ordinance, their is a pending ordinance, requesting him to make representation with the office of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board to allow any or all public utility jeepneys (PUJs) associations in Brgy. Handumanan with present routes-Handumanan to Libertad via Brgy. Alijis and via Brgy. Mansilingan and vice versa to extend their route to Central Market/Downtown Area with proposed terminal to be situated between San-Sebastian-Locsin and Gatuslao streets.
All city department heads and some barangay leaders from the 61 barangays here in Bacolod City also attended yesterday's Soca.
