DENR's regional people's hour continue to respond to concerns of stakeholders
More than 50 clients were given immediate response by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) here since the regional people's hour was launched in Iloilo last month.
DENR regional executive director Lormelyn Claudio said among the concerns that were brought to thief office were pollution, environmental management, solid waste, land titling, land conflict and forest management.
Claudio said land concerns happened to be the topmost concern that was given immediate attention by the agency.
"I recall that it's mostly on land matters. It happens even in other areas and not only in Western Visayas," she said.
The regional people's hour was launched by DENR Secretary Jose Lito Atienza here last month.
Claudio said every Thursday, regional executives of the DENR gathered to answer queries and concerns that the walk-in clients would refer to them.
Meanwhile, to bring the services closer to the people, Claudio said they have already set schedules for the conduct of provincial people's hour in the various provinces of Western Visayas.
On September 11, the people's hour will be held in Guimaras; Sept 18, regional office; Sept 25, Negros Occidental; October 2, Capiz; October 9, regional office; October 16, Antique; and October 23, regional office and October 30, Aklan.
"The regional team will be going there but after the regional team having gone to the provinces, the provincial environment and natural resources officer (PENRO) and the community environment and natural resources officer (CENRO) will be doing it themselves," she explained.
She added that clients who feel that they really need to talk to the regional team can also bring their concerns during the slated schedule for the regional people's hour. (PNA)
