Del Rosario not amenable to peace talk with Bermejo
ROXAS CITY – It seems First District Representative Antonio del Rosario is not amenable to a peace talk with political enemy City Mayor Vicente Bermejo.
"Peace talks has nothing to do with the issues of corruption against us (Del Rosario and Bermejo) we want to bring it to the Ombudsman if both of us committed it," Del Rosario said.
He said the issues on graft and corruption involves the people's money that should not be resolved by way of a peace talk.
A source told The News Today that Sen. Mar Roxas is lobbying for the settlement of the two warring camps who are top officials of the Liberal Party (LP).
Both Del Rosario and Bermejo are trading allegations of graft and corruption during their previous administrations.
Del Rosario was accused of having ghost payroll and financial assistance anomalies when he was mayor of Roxas City while Bermejo was likewise implicated for having P3.3 ghost projects in Culasi, Roxas City as part of his P44 million legacy projects when he was still governor of the province.
Del Rosario also opposed the 15 hectares relocation site projects of Bermejo called as Culasi Nuevo in Culasi while the latter also opposed the two proposed skywalks to be constructed by the congressman in Roxas Avenue and Brgy. Tanque here.
Earlier, Del Rosario submitted himself for investigation by the Sangguniang Panglungsod to clear his name from the alleged anomalies hurled against him.
However, City Councilor Erwin Sicad, chair of the SP committee of the whole, came out with a committee report denying Del Rosario's call for an investigation saying the SP has no jurisdiction over the congressman.
Meanwhile, Bermejo was not reached for comment regarding the peace talk.
