P18. 25 NFA rice still available in 342 outlets in Iloilo
Families that could not afford to buy the P25 per kilo rice being sold by the National Food Authority (NFA) in markets can still access the P18.25 per kilo stocks at 342 NFA accredited outlets in Iloilo.
NFA Iloilo manager Hedy Jardeleza said the P18.25 rice was pulled out in the markets because soon as part of the government's pro-poor program they will only be made available to those with family access cards.
At present stocks of the P18.25 rice are being sold in 18 outlets of the Tindahan ng Parokya, 310 Tindahan Natin outlets, two barangay based outlets operated by local government units in Concepcion and Pavia and the 12 Kapitbisig Laban sa Kahirapan (KALAHI) outlets for rebel returnees.
"Eventually later on only those with family access cards will be entitled to buy the P18.25 NFA rice. It will no longer be open to everybody," she said.
Jardeleza added that the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is still in the process of identifying those who are qualified to have family access cards. (PNA)
