Capiz registers P212-M investments
Roxas City -- Total investments worth P212,888,832 from the new Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) businesses has been recorded by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Capiz from January to November 20 this year.
"The new investments have generated about 2,348 jobs for Capiceños," said DTI Capiz report.
The statistics adds on to the existing SMEs registered by the DTI which renew their respective enterprises after the expiration of their business registration.
The new investments in the province are in line with the government efforts to lure more investors to invest in the country to create employment opportunities and reduce poverty in the country.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has called on more investors as she urged foreign and local business communities to join hands with the government in building a stronger and better Philippines.
The government has worked hard to ensure a business-friendly environment amidst continuing economic gains to attract investors interest in putting up business in the country.
The efforts include the reduction of cost in doing business by trimming down red tape and corruption, improvement of the criminal justice system, and strict implementation of administrative control, among others.
Recently, President Arroyo enthused about the investments that continue to pour into the country, and the continuing surge in the stock market.
The latest investor to locate in the Philippines is Banyan Tree Group which is still looking for 300 hectares of land so that it could create an entire "resort community." The Singaporean-based tourism investing group has turned Phuket, Thailand into a premier international tourism destination. (PIA)
