Bacolod City dengue cases register dramatic drop
Bacolod City -- Dengue cases in Bacolod City took a dramatic dip when figures fell from 1,116 cases in August to only 428 in September, further sliding down to 166 cases in October.
City Health Officer Dr. Edgardo Estrella said the total cases since January to November 3 of this year reached 2,836 with 17 deaths.
He hopes cases will continue to drop as he announced that dengue is no longer a rainy season disease but a whole-year-round threat that would also require a year-long vigilance.
Meanwhile, a cheaper and yet environmentally safe substance has been procured to prevent the thriving of dengue mosquitoes.
Larvaecidal "Kitikitxt" costs only P285 per kilo while the previously used chemical costs P4,000 per kilo.
Estrella said they will be coordinating with barangay officials to effectively control dengue.
