Plagata vows to lead crackdown against illegal terminals
Plagata
City Councilor Erwin Plagata said the corruption involving illegal terminals in the city is "well-entrenched" that is it not easy for the Traffic Technical Working Group (TWG), which he chairs, to stop their operations. As this developed, the TWG was given authority to recommend the dismissal of traffic aides who have participation in the continuing presence of illegal terminals.
Plagata, chair of the committee on transportation, communication and public utilities of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, said the "tentacles" of those behind the illegal terminals is deeply rooted. He however assured that they are trying to cut-off these tentacles for the implementation of the Perimeter Boundary Ordinance (PBO). He did not identify on who's behind these illegal terminals in the city.
"The floodgates have been opened for those who circumvent the full execution of the ordinance embodied in the PBO. The TWG is starting to close these gates particularly to those behind the modus operandi," said Plagata.
Plagata’s statement was in response to the continuing operation of an illegal terminal behind the Ledi Supermart in Jaro where vans going to Dingle are stationed. These vans do not go to the terminals assigned to them.
He said they will not tolerate all these illegal activities especially those involving traffic aides.
The traffic aides assigned in the respective areas should be responsible in maintaining the area. And yet, the operation of illegal terminals continues in spite of several operations to stop them, Plagata lamented.
