Computerization of three city govt offices underway
The computerization for the three important offices of the city government will kick off after the World Bank (WB) has laid down the rules for the P14-million project. Of the P14 million, P7 million is in form of a grant.
Mayor Jerry Treñas said the P14 million will be released through the Department of Finance (DoF). The P7 million will be in form of a grant while the city government pays the remaining P7 million. The city is now ready to pay half of the 50 percent or half of the P7 million.
Treñas said the remaining amount will be amortized by the city government for a period of three to five years. The computerization program includes the procurement of soft and hardwares and payment for encoders. The encoders will enter the data of the Office of the City Assessor's, City Treasurer's Office and Permits and Licensing Division. City Treasurer Katherine Tingson left for Manila to finalize the necessary documents relative to the computerization program.
The chief executive added, the project also includes the purchase of 30 brand new computer units. However, they are still negotiating with the management of the Robinsons mall on where they can place and install the equipment. As to date, not all of the city government offices that transferred to Robinsons are finished.
Last week, the members of the city's Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) attended a final briefing facilitated by the WB and DoF for the bidding of computer equipment. The computerization program should have started last May 29 and will end on March 2008.
