Ombudsman wants update on CEO case

The Ombudsman Visayas has asked City Councilor Jed Patrick Mabilog for an update on the investigation conducted by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) relative to the alleged anomalies at the City Engineer's Office (CEO) as exposed by former CEO employee Ricardo Gumabong last year.

Killers of Chinese bizman still unknown

Police are still looking for three suspects who killed a Chinese businessman on his way home Saturday night.

Thirty-five year old Zhigang Zhang, owner of a store in downtown Iloilo, was gunned down by three motorcycle-riding suspects around 8:45 p.m. Saturday inside his car.

The UPV Main Building, Iloilo City Campus

In 1929, Sra. Juliana Melliza donated a portion of her property in Molo, Iloilo to be used as the site of the future city hall of Iloilo. This was located about two kilometers from the original heart of the municipality of Iloilo which was near San Jose church and Plaza Libertad. With this intended site for Iloilo's City Hall, Juan Arellano (then supervising Architect of the Bureau of Public Works) designed a grand building along with a new urban plan for this burgeoning provincial center.
