MIWD exec denies anomaly over P207 M rehab fund

Metro Iloilo Water District Interim Manager Edwin Reyes denied insinuations relative to the alleged "irregularity" in the water district's P207 million rehabilitation fund. The fund was sourced out from a loan at the Asian Development Bank and portion of it was the water district's equity in 2004.

Man takes daughter hostage, commits suicide

A man believed to be suffering from a longtime mental illness took his ten year-old daughter hostage yesterday and when later arrested, tried to commit suicide while in detention.

Partylist groups decry repression, harassment

Militant party-list groups have filed a complaint before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for the destruction of their campaign materials posted in designated areas in Iloilo City.

In a letter submitted to lawyer Elizabeth Doronilla, election officer of the province and city of Iloilo, the party-list group Bayan Muna said their posters have been "sabotaged" in city public plazas in the districts of Jaro, La Paz, and City Proper.
