Cerebral Combustion

Lurking into the contemptible candidates for public office is such a disgraceful connivance where the assembly of politicians cleverly ensnare the interest of the populace, the result of which the feeble conniving party is corrupted with deceptive declaration of promises and pledges. Our political system is continuously decaying due to this kind of scheme which the voters of this country voluntarily participate. The whole process of election from the campaign period to formal voting is no less than the time for the people's despair and optimism to be altogether played around into an absurd amusement of apparent foolishness. For lack of judgment, sensibility, or awareness, this country has given supremacy, wealth and insignificant influence to individuals who mask their personal interest with the assertion of public service. For whatever reason, one thing is clear: this country hone swarm of political maggots.
There seems to be a candidate for each -- business class representatives, anti-government party lists, legislative body of sorts, moral and social campaigners and extensively the pro-poor advocates. Although majority in our society is comprised of the underprivileged, it is essential to note that this country has about 8 to 10 million young voters from 18 to 24, and only 70 percent of which carry out their right to suffrage. Of the remaining 30 percent who refused to participate, perhaps it is apt to say that the younger generation turn towards political apathy for lack of better options. I can say so for myself. In not voting they say we are not helping our country. But I feel that in doing so, there is a robust insurgency being created to cause alarm, to falsify the legitimacy of candidates in silence because clearly and ultimately those who chose not to vote are not satisfied with what is being laid out to them.
Nobody has ever represented the youth in the senate or in congress. In the past there had been attempts, like Jamby Madrigal, but to what purposes she claimed to act upon in her platform already escaped from my memory. What this country needs is a formidable figure who eminently will reflect and sustain the best interest and welfare of the youth. Unlike the older ones anticipating a cold promise for a better life, the young does not need to be served fish, they need to learn and grow as skilled and trained fishermen. Many in our country has been gifted with necessary potentials and capabilities. The younger ones itself is a gift. Fragile as they may seem but if handled well, they can arise to be remarkable citizens, conscientious if morally educated right, admirable if properly shown an upright image of virtues and valuable if justly given the sense of purpose.
With all the hooplas the candidates are now busy with, I do not think there is much change that is going to take place in our political setting except for the increase of more despicable leaders. It is a shame the youth carries unwillingly. Despite their will, of our will, something is taken from us. The circus has begun, the spectacle of the campaign period is now ready for public viewing. But not until someone sets apart from the hordes of imprudent entities, politics remains an aching bore.
