City still accountable to contractor of anomaly-ridden housing project—COA

Iloilo City's multi-million in idle and cannibalized housing property with construction works done at over P80 million thus far still owes the contractor P14.2 million.

Ex-city councilor warns city officials vs. paying ABE

Former City Councilor Atty. Vicente Gengos, Jr. threatened to file charges against the Sangguniang Panlungsod should they approve the endorsement of the City Legal Office (CLO) to pay the remaining P14.2 million to Ace Builders and Enterprise (ABE), contractor of the city's mothballed 125 million socialized housing project in Pavia, Iloilo.

Strong waves brought by stormy weather yesterday batter the seawall at Fort San Pedro. Several houses in the city's coastal areas were reportedly destroyed by strong winds and waves while some parts of the city became flooded due to heavy rains.

City's power assured even with reduced supply from Peco

Panay Electric Company (Peco) will reportedly lower by 6 to 7 megawatts the power it distributes to city consumers starting August 12 due to equipment maintenance. But city residents don't have to worry, the National Power Corporation (Napocor) could already provide for the lost power.

Napocor, National Transmission Corporation (Transco) and Peco have already inked a memorandum of agreement for the power interconnection. The MOA was signed after Peco posted P1.8 million bond to serve the power needs of its consumers.
