OPINION POLLS
Do you think the government will be able to eradicate the NPA in two years as ordered by PGMA? Why or why not?
ART GEROCHE
PGMA cannot wipe NPAs out, war between NPA and military will continue, or else the US will get angry. They supply weapons to both.
DR. HELEN CARO
No. Government has the plan but very loose rules in implementation and carrying out plans to reach objectives...menos
JOSELITO FELIPE
Actually the presence of NPA is not the concern of the government. What GMA should do is eradicate the problem of corruption in the government -- all levels that causes poverty and unemployment. Running after this people would only strengthen and expand their territory.
JUN TILLAFLOR
A big NO! It is already an incurable cancer.
HERSON CASIDSID
I don't believe on the government plan to eradicate the NPA. First, no political will. Second, rampant graft and corruption and third, social injustice and increase in human rights violation. These concerns should be addressed first.
DR. JEREMY SAQUIAN
Only in their dreams. As long as government sincerely changes, rebels will sprout like mushrooms.
ATTY. HELEN CAMARISTA
Yes. If there is a will, there should be a way.
JONAS GAGAJENA
NPA and other insurgency group will continue to exist as long as poverty problems in our country remain unsolved.
GENE GARINGALAO
No, they can't do it in such a short time but it must start now in an honest to goodness way... no frills.
JULIUS JUANITO
If Pres. Magsaysay was able to do it before, why not. But we have to consider if there is a similarity in the situations now than before.
GLO GUADARRAMA-SAULOG
No. The battle is a battle of hearts and minds and not a battle of military hardware.
ATTY. JOSE DEMAISIP
I certainly hope the government could eradicate the NPA problem but judging from experience I do not relish the scenario where the government goes to the negotiating table just when it is getting the upperhand.
