Ilonggos who are for or against the operation of the Small Town Lottery (STL) should keep watch on the developments on the proposed resurgence of the numbers game after an "agent" has already acquired a business permit to operate in Iloilo City.

Contrary to the claims of City Engineer Marito Amatorio and Engr. Marcelino Umahag, a formal complaint relative to Ricardo Gumabong's alleged extortion activities has reached their office as early as September 2004.

CEO to undergo COA fraud audit

After hearing Ricardo Gumabong spill the beans on the many irregularities allegedly happening inside the City Engineer's Office (CEO), City Councilor Perla Zulueta is convinced there indeed is a syndicate operating out of the said office. In fact, so convinced was she that she would soon be asking the Commission on Audit (COA) to conduct a fraud audit on the CEO.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod junked the request of the Association of Barangay Chairmen (ABC) of the City Proper to conduct an investigation "in aid of legislation" relative to the presence of private structures and enterprises at Plaza Libertad particularly the Senior Citizen Multi-Purpose Cooperative.
