City needs P400 to P410 million to construct new city hall building
The Sangguniang Panlungsod will study the budgetary estimates prepared by WVCoscolluela & Associates on the proposed construction of the new Iloilo City Hall as the two project designs need some P404 to P410 million pesos.

The figure is much more expensive than the first projected budgetary estimate which is only P320 million.
The city council decided to defer the discussions on the proposed construction of the new Iloilo City Hall in last Wednesday's regular session. Members of the city council were given advanced copies of the budgetary estimates prepared by WVCoscolluela & Associates. Mayor Jerry Treñas is expected to call for a meeting as soon as he arrives from New York, USA to discuss the budgetary estimates for the new city hall.
Earlier, it was estimated that the city needs some P320 million for the construction of the new Iloilo City Hall. However, in the April 17, 2006 communication sent by the WVCoscolluela & Associates, the proposed budget for the construction of new city hall at the old site is P410,298,000. The proposed new city hall at the old site is an 11-storey high rise building. While, the proposed two-storey Iloilo City Hall in Molo has the budgetary estimates of P404,731,372.
Bulk of the budget in the proposed 11-storey high rise building is allocated on the structural works which costs P102,425,000. In the project proposal, the lot area reflected is 2,162 square meters but the total floor area is 17,000 square meters. The figures on the lot area is lesser compared to its floor area.
Architectural works rank second with the biggest budgetary estimates which costs P95,200,000. Electrical works has an estimated budgetary needs of P57,800,000. Mechanical works has a budget of P49,215,000. Pile driving costs P29,920,000.
The budgetary estimate for four elevator sets is P26,000,000. The budget for general requirements which include mobilization, demobilization, temporary facilities, permits is P19,538,000. The plumbing and sanitary works costs P16,150,000.
The estimated budget for the fire protection system is P11,050,000 and earthwork which includes excavation, backfill and compaction, disposal, soil poisoning, vapor barrier, gravel bed, chipping piles, dewatering, breaking of existing slab is P3,000.
The P404,731,372 costing does not include demolition works, site development or improvement of site, internal partitioning for space planning and fit-out works, primary transformer, architect and engineering fee and project management fee.
The budgetary estimates for the proposed two-storey building to be constructed in Molo is P404,731,372. Bigger slice of the budget estimate went to the architectural works with P97,500,000.
The estimated budget for the structural work is P68,775,000; site development P56,301,450; electrical works P51,000,000; aircon/ventilation system P48,675,000; pile driving P30,957,000; general requirements P19,272,922; plumbing and sanitary works P14,250,000; fire protection system P9,750,000 and earthwork P8,250,000.
The construction of retaining wall along the riverbanks is not included in the budgetary estimate.
