City's 'dirty tag-ger' not known to EU
Iloilo City -- Remember the Dr. Lee W. Stranssenberg, supposed Tourism Chief of the European Union (EU)? Remember him with his call to other foreign nationals not to go visit Iloilo City? Remember his 'diagnosis' that the city stands to be the dirtiest in the Philippines, his January stay with other EU envoys most unpleasant and undesirable?
Turns out now he is not any cleaner, pleasant and desirable himself. In fact, he may not even be who he says he is as The News Today (TNT) got this confirmation from the EU - "there is no Dr. Lee W. Stranssenberg working in the European Commission."
On the contrary, what the EU has are policies concerning tourism. And the right EU body to address related tourism concerns is the Directorate-General (DG) of the European Commission for Enterprise and Industry. For any information, the right person to contact is the Commission Spokesperson for Enterprise and Industry issues, Karin Pithan.
This, TNT learned from a quick reply of the EU Directorate-General's office in an email sent that sought verification of "Dr. Lee's" whereabouts.
To recall, no less than Tourism Regional Director Edwin Trompeta said he will take action on the Stranssenberg complaint even as he stands to refute the "dirtiest city" tag. Sure, Iloilo City does have valid problems on abusive taxi drivers and traffic in select city streets yet as Trompeta pointed out, it is not fair to be judged as the "most unpleasant and most undesirable" city for supposedly being the Philippines' dirtiest.
