Ilonggo politicians differ on proposal to scrap 2007 polls
Iloilo Governor Niel Tupas does not favor the recommendation of the Consultative Commission to cancel the election in 2007 and set it for 2010 to pave way for a Parliamentary form of government.

The threat of a power interruption in Iloilo City is not yet over. This is why Mayor Jerry Treñas is looking for an "acceptable solution" which could finally settle the city's problem on power supply.
City allots P.7M for 'invisible' task forces
They may not be that visible but the city government has alloted a P718,540 budget for the five task forces created under the Office of the City Mayor, namely, Task Force Cooperative, Boltahe, Anti-littering, Sidewalk and Anti-Jaywalking.

City's index crime down 33.96 percent
Iloilo City has registered a 33.96 percent drop in index crimes from January to November of this year compared to the same period last year, the Iloilo City Police Office reported during the recent meeting of the City Peace and Order Council.
Barangay volunteers receive Christmas gifts
As a token of appreciation for their undying service to the people in the barangays Governor Niel Tupas, Sr. has given the provincial volunteers a Christmas gift of P1,400 each.
City gives cash gift to barangay officials
The city's 180 barangay captains as well as other barangay officials have their own share of "cash gifts" from the city government. A whopping P5 million was recently allocated for the cash gifts of barangay officials in the city.
