10 ICPO cops saved by the bell
The reported relief of the ten cops from the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) early this week actually did not happen.
The News Today learned that the supposed relief of the ten cops was put on hold pending further explanations from the affected policemen.
Sources said though the relief of the ten cops was already approved in principle by top officials of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO 6) including Regional Director Chief Supt. Doroteo Reyes II.
Included in the list of policemen supposed to have been relieved are: SPO1 Danny Gallego, PO2 Remy Donasco, PO2 Salvador Gonzalez, PO3 Ronaldo Alag, SPO3 Nathaniel Ore, PO2 Armand Penuela, SPO3 Jun Isanan, PO1 Richard Adelantar, SPO1 Eduardo Casabuena and SPO3 Gerardo Iguarra.
Last week, the said policemen were called by Sr. Supt. Reynaldo Rafal, chief of the Directorial Staff and concurrent chief of the Human Resource and Personnel Division.
However, ICPO Director Senior Supt. Norlito Bautista reportedly was unaware of Rafal's move.
Meanwhile, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas said the cops would just be 'reshuffled' to avoid familiarization with the suspected criminals in their areas of assignment.
Treñas had a meeting with Bautista Thursday morning before the former's interview with the members of the Iloilo City Hall Press Corps.
He did not show resistance over plans to reshuffle the policemen at ICPO.
It was not yet known when the supposed reshuffling would take effect.
