Antique to host 1st nat’l swimming tilt

Thirty three gold, 44 silvers and 35 bronze medals. For only over a year of training, Antique tankers reaped these honors for the province in various regional and national swimming competitions, thus, carving a name in the field of swimming events.

These accomplishments prompted the Antique Swimming Association Inc. (ASA) to push for the holding of the First National Binirayan Invitational Swimming Competition. The association is presently lobbying for the support of Gov. Salvacion Z. Perez for the realization of the proposal. Gov. Perez is an active advocate in developing the potentials of Antiqueño swimmers.

The competition will be the first ever national swimming tilt in the province of Antique. This is aimed to develop the competence of local swimmers to compete in bigger contests following the lead of Crizelle Lagunday, an Antiqueña who have made her way up in regional, national and even international swimming contests. The competition will likewise enlist the province as potential in handling sports events considering the newly installed facilities including the Swimming Pool of Olympic Standard.

The swimming competition slated on December 9-10, this year is expected to be participated in by swimming clubs in the Philippines under the FINA and the Philippine Amateur Swimming Association (PASA) rules and regulations. (PIO-Antique)
