Wanted: Prosecutors for Western Visayas

Job vacancy is available in one of the country's more “demanding” departments in terms of duties and expected responsibilities under government employ.  The prospective employer? Department of Justice.  Job description? Public prosecutors.

In fact, at least 43 are needed now to fill in the need of prosecutors for Western Visayas alone.

With Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Raul Gonzalez, Sr. seeking a speedy resolution of pending complaints and long unresolved cases, the lack of government prosecutors has since hampered the move.

In a report, The News Today (TNT) gathered that of the 43 needed for Region 6, twelve new hires for the Iloilo City Prosecutors Office are allotted, eight for Negros Occidental and at least three for the Iloilo Provincial Prosecutors Office.

In an interview, Regional State Prosecutor Domingo Laurea confirmed the reported vacancies which to date has yet to be filled.

To note, scores of complaints lodged before the Prosecutor's office are faced with considerable delays, it's speedy resolution hampered by the enormous loads assigned to the present force of concerned offices.

The vacancy and hiring is expected to lighten said workload and boost efforts of the Department for more effective delivery of services.
