Two cops hurt in Estancia car accident

Two cops got hurt in a vehicular accident in Estancia, Iloilo after a driver lost control of his owner-type jeepney and rammed on the duo.  The suspect was identified by authorities as Nicolas Salido, a visiting seafarer who immediately surrendered to police.  His victims, PO2 Timmy Clariza and PO1 Gerome Arca.
 
The two cops, The News Today (TNT) gathered, were patrolling the streets of Poblacion area late Friday evening and tried to get away from the speeding vehicle but to no avail.  They were part of a two-man team dispatched by the Estancia Police to check on presence of minors in the town's roadside nightspots.
 
Another youngster was hurt in the crash but was allowed to go home after  emergency treatment.  Such as the two cops were rushed to Malbog District Hospital by fellow cops and later transferred to St. Pauls Hospital in the city.  PO2 Clariza complained of having pains in the head while PO1 Arca was reported to have suffered back injuries.  Both were conscious when last reached by pals and are expected to recover from their injuries.

The suspect remains in police custody pending proper disposition of his case.  It was not immediately known if the two cops will pursue the charges against Salido.
