Antique’s Alay Lakad raised more than P20T for OSY

San Jose, Antique – This year’s Alay Lakad in the Province of Antique has successfully raised more than P20,000 from the donations of capitol officials and employees, students and other concerned sectors of the community.

The Alay Lakad that kicked off early morning of September 17 with Antique Gov. Salvacion Zaldivar-Perez and Alay Lakad Foundation, Inc. President Broderick Train on the lead turned to be a great success because of the generous donations and participation of the Antiquenos.

Antique Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Lazaro G. Petinglay, whose office served as secretariat, said that this is really a laudable activity that greatly benefits the out-of-school youth (OSY) in the province.

He said that because of the funds raised from Alay Lakad during the past three years now many OSYs have been encouraged to involve themselves in the Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines that provides them opportunities also for their personal development.

The Alay Lakad around the capital town of San Jose de Buenavista culminated with a program and then a coastal cleanup in observance also of the Month of the Ocean.

Dr. Alicia L. Lustica, Regional Technical Director for Research and Development Services of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Regional Office 6, especially came for this activity. (PNA)
