11 'ineffective' cops axed

Eleven policemen from the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) had been issued relief orders by Senior Supt. Norlito Bautista the other day due to poor performance.

The relieved policemen came from Jaro, Molo, and City Proper police precincts. They are: PO2 Reynaldo Dequiña, PO3 Ely Galoper, and PO3 Felix Kioska from Jaro; PO2 Aurelio Porras, PO2 Gerwin Servano, PO2 Gildo Sullivan and SPO2 Rodrigo Acuesta from City Proper; SPO3 Rex Jabian, SPO1 Rodendache Ganzon, PO3 Willy Segutier, and PO3 Dexter Sevilla from Molo police precinct.

The said policemen were temporary detailed at the Police Regional Office 6 headquarters in Camp Martin Delgado.

Save for saying that the said cops had already become ineffective in their respective duties, Bautista refused to elaborate further on the reason behind the sudden relief.
While the memorandum reaching Camp Delgado only cited “for the good of the service” as reason for the relief.

A reliable source, however, told The News Today that the names of the said policemen had reached top PNP officials in Camp Crame as having questionable characters.
The source said Bautista's attention was then called regarding the matter.
The relieved policemen, the source said, had a problem with their credibility based on intelligence reports.

The source said they were either involved in illegal drugs or protector of illegal gambling.  One cop, the source added, was even identified as protector of cellular phone snatchers.
Senior Supt. Reynaldo Rafal, Chief Directorial Staff and concurrent chief of the Personnel Department at PRO6, said the relieved policemen are presently detailed at the Regional Headquarters Service Group.

One of the relieved policeman who spoke on condition of anonymity was surprised with their sudden relief saying “we did not know what hit us.”
The said cop complained that they were deprived of due process as there was even no complaint lodged against them.

Meanwhile, The News Today learned that the ICPO already installed replacements for the  relieved cops in their respective precincts. (With reports from Rodulfo Repizo of RMN)
