Cops face blank wall on identity of charred man

Authorities remain baffled on the identity of a male victim whose charred body was dropped off last week in a secluded hinterland barangay in the Municipality of Concepcion, Iloilo.

With earlier radio reports of a possible identification, latest development debunked now the suspicion raised by one woman who said the victim could be her husband, a former police asset of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

In a report Sunday, Bombo Radyo Iloilo reached a CIDG operative who clarified seeing the supposed CIDG asset very much alive only Saturday.  The initial claim of the woman informant was based on the clothing recovered by the Concepcion police.

With the latest clarification, cops in said northern town are back to zero with no other leads available that would identify the victim.

Intelligence sources told The News Today of clear findings reached following the autopsy made on the burned remains.

Evident, according to the information relayed, were at least six tires used in the burning, with the victim placed in between three set of tires from each side.

The unidentified suspects then covered him with dry coconut leaves then set the fire going.  Further recovered was a green towel and a shirt.

The victim was about 5'4” to 5' 5' in height and medium-built.
