NBI files large scale estafa, illegal recruitment raps vs policewoman, pal

A policewoman assigned at the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) Women and Children's Desk (WCD) was charged with large scale estafa and illegal recruitment.

In a report gathered by The News Today, the respondent-cop was identified as PO2 Cherry Pilapil and associate, one Susan Harder of Lapaz, Iloilo City.

The charges stemmed from an earlier complaint validated by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) here where some 57 alleged victims were reportedly promised jobs by the duo.

Destination of the complainants was to be the United Kingdom as caregivers with fees paid from P35,000 and more.  The applications were said to have been pending since 2002 that raised concerns and doubts from the group who have yet to leave the country.

No further specifics were readily available on the supposed victims and surrounding mis-events with the said complaints filed by the NBI before the City Prosecutor's Office.

A follow-up made by the The News Today with the ICPO-WCD failed to get PO2 Pilapil's side.

She reportedly called in sick late last week.  Sources close to said policewoman expressed shock over the charges however no official comment was made on the matter.
