Ability Ann Tacaisan
The name says it all

Men differ in many ways. They differ in physical dimensions, in strength, in interests and skills. They differ in their rate and pattern of development. They differ in the keenness with which their intellectual and physical functions are integrated. They differ in their proficiency in certain tasks. Their differences may affect their success through their work or in society.

Individual characteristics are inherited, while habits, attitudes and understandings that are distinctively his own are developed out of the experiences at home, in school and community. For example, physical development depends partly on heredity and partly from environmental factors, such as food, general health conditions and climatic conditions. The unique person is a product of these influences.

It is also noted that there are individuals who excel among others. They are called the gifted or them who Have developed multiple intelligence. The rarity of these people makes their existence more interesting, just like Albert Einstein, Leonardo da Vinci, Ludwig van Beethoven to name a few. They change the world with their field of intelligence. A fifteen-year old girl with such a comparable intelligence is Ability Ann Tacaisan.

Abby has shown superior intelligence throughout her childhood up to the present. She is the third of the 4 four children of Wilfredo and Leonila Tacaisan. A 3 rd year high school and a consistent A+ student maintaining a ‘Highest Distinction Award' (the highest award given to students) since Grade 1 in Colegio del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus. She has received awards both in academic and non–academic activities. She recieved highest distinction in Math and Science. Abby was consistently the class valedictorian in her elementary years. Recently, she bested 26 others in the SEAFDEC Aquaculture contest along with her friends April Rose Drilon, Shyne Marie Tanghal and Michelle Lorbes.

Maintaining an excellent mark in school is a ‘no-sweat' for her. Although it means traveling an hour from Guimaras to Iloilo daily, her secret is simply “making the most of my time… I just want to do more than be idle.” What makes her a better person is her well-rounded personality. As teachers say “She is disciplined in her studies as well as in any work assigned to her.”

Learning as part of an individual's growth is also different for everyone. Things might not work exactly the same for everyone but Abby says “I make a time-table to guide me in my activities. Also it helps me foresee the goals I have to accomplish.” Even with her accomplishments, she is no different from other teenagers who enjoy watching movies, shopping, reading Harry Potter books, surfing the net and others. And with her potentials, Abby would surely excel in any field especially her dream of becoming a Pediatrician. Her advice to fellow teens is: “Live like any teenager…enjoy what you can while you're young but remember that hard work are often opportunities for growth and development. And you have to take it.”
