Little friendship

There is nothing more refreshing than watching a great movie. I watched “The Little Prince”. It's an old movie and I am not even familiar with the actors and actresses except for Bob Fosse. Bob Fosse is a famous choreographer and saw him before in “On Broadway” musical play. His character in the movie, “The Little Prince” is an entertaining one. Of course, we all know that it's a musical and it has to be entertaining but Fosse was awesome in this movie. Oh well, he played the role of the snake who will send the little prince to slumber land but that is going ahead of the story. Fosse played the role of the snake and he danced too. Michael Jackson must have gotten his moves from Fosse because he was already doing the moonwalk step then and this movie was made during the 70's when Michael was still part of the Jackson Five era. And his costume? All black, gloves, white socks and black flat shoes that looked like kung-fu shoes, looks familiar? No mistaking where Michael Jackson got his moves!

I know some of you know the story of the little prince so I am just going to share with you the best part of the movie for me. The little prince lives in a small planet with three volcanoes that he cleans everyday and a red rose that he covers with a glass that he thinks is unique. The rose became capricious and he didn't understand why the rose is that way so one day he told her he was leaving. He decided to leave and explore other planets so he can understand the rose and staying in his small planet will not make him understand her. So off he went carried by his birds which served as his vehicle to move from one planet to other planets meeting different kinds of personalities. There were a few kind and good people but a lot of evil ones. I guess no different from the real world! As a matter of fact, the movie conveyed undertones but I don't want to write about it now (of course it's political! It usually is). Anyway, before he met the fox which is the part I like best, he stumbled upon a rosebush. The prince saw a lot of roses with different colors and suddenly he started crying because he found out that his rose in his planet is not unique at all! While he was crying the fox, role played by Gene Wilder came into the picture. The fox was greeting the prince a “good morning” and he didn't even notice because he was so sad and crying. When the prince, still crying noticed the fox, he asked the fox to play with him. Then the beautiful friendship started between the fox and the little prince. It was very exciting at first, then it became interesting and then it became very entertaining of course with the song and dance part. But what struck me most is the friendship the little prince had with the fox. In a song, it was explained how friendship starts but sometimes it has to end bitterly and painfully. Goodbye was not an easy thing to do and the friendship between the prince and the fox had to end because the prince had to go back to his small planet. “What is essential is invisible to the eye”, such nice insight that is so inspiring. Our world has become worldly and also the people that live it, that includes me of course, no doubt about it.

“If you observe a really happy man you will find him building a boat, writing a symphony, educating his son, growing double dahlias in his garden. He will not be searching for happiness as if it were a collar button that has rolled under the radiator.”
