Barotac Viejo Mayor Raul C. Tupas was a recipient of National Sandugo award during the 7 th National Sandugo Awards Night held last July 27, 2005 in Diamond Hotel, Malate, Manila.

Tupas said the award was based on personal commitment and involvement of local chief executives in the national voluntary blood services program as well as in supporting the Red Cross programs.

He said in his case, he became instrumental in encouraging his “kasimanwas” to donate blood in emergency cases.

Tupas said further he also created a task force to strengthen the national voluntary blood donation program through an executive order.

“Ginabalik ko ini nga award sa local officials of Barotac Viejo especially to barangay captains nga nagatinguha man every other quarter in support to this program kag sa nameless and faceless Barotacnons,” he said.

Tupas said this award is not possible without them.

Ajuy Mayor Jett Roxas was also the recipient of the said award.

The awardees were five governors, eight municipal mayors and four city mayors throughout the country.
