CFO sets education drive for OFWs


The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) will conduct a series of Community Education Program (CEP) campaign, dubbed “ Handa ka na bang mag-abroad? Ano ang mga dapat mong alamin?” from August 14-20, 2005 in Western Visayas.

The CEP is undertaken yearly in different regions in the country which have big number of overseas workers.  For 2005 the CEP will cover 3 provinces, namely, Negros Occidental, on August 14-16, 2005; Iloilo,on August 16-18; and, Antique, august 18-20.

The CFO officers will be joined by representatives of other agencies which seeks to raise public awareness on various issues concerning migration, intermarriages and existing government policies and programs directed against illegal recruitment, documentation fraud, human trafficking, among others.

Activities such as school symposia, meetings/dialogues with NGOs, GOs, religious leaders/members, pulong-pulong with local government units/community leaders and members, press briefings and radio interviews will be conducted by the CEP team.

Approximately 3,000 attendees are expected to take part in this leg of the CEP activities. (PIA 6)
